About

Founder: Sunny Sneckner.

Before SmartHauz, Sunny spent years working at Apple supporting enterprise and creative clients in high-demand environments, where systems were expected to work the first time, every time.

That experience, combined with a background in professional video and audio engineering, shaped how SmartHauz approaches every project.

The goal isn’t just that everything functions. It’s that everything is clear, predictable, and consistent, the same standard expected of products people use every day.

It’s why systems are documented clearly. It’s why media rooms are calibrated, not just installed. And it’s why the experience of using the system matters as much as the hardware behind it.

SmartHauz was founded in 2017 after seeing too many smart home systems sold without real technical grounding, with a simple standard: the system that gets designed is the system that gets built, and the team that builds it is still accountable to it years later.

Years in, that’s still how we run it.

How we’re structured.

SmartHauz is intentionally small. Here’s what that looks like.

Founder-led, with firm-level discipline. SmartHauz is led by a founder with engineering depth and held to a single standard across every project. You always have a named point of contact at SmartHauz, from the first conversation through handoff and the years that follow.

Install-partner crews. Rather than carrying a full-time install team, SmartHauz works with two vetted install crews who specialize in low-voltage rough-in and rack fabrication. Each has been on SmartHauz projects for three or more years. You’ll meet them by name on your project.

Why this matters to you. No salesperson who disappears after contract. No rotating junior tech on your finish install. No surprise subcontractor you’ve never heard of. And a limited number of projects per year, so every one of them gets built the way we’d want to live with it.

Our principles.

We publish our scope. Most firms hide everything until contract. We put the approach on the site because the right clients will respect that.

We say no. If a project isn’t a fit, we’ll tell you and refer you to someone we’d work with ourselves.

We plan before we pull. Drawings exist for a reason. Rough-in without them is how the industry earned its reputation.

We stay. Our service plan is the cheapest insurance for a system this substantial.

Where we work.

Austin and the Hill Country are our base, including Austin, Westlake, West Lake Hills, Tarrytown, Hyde Park, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Rollingwood, Dripping Springs, Barton Creek, Lost Creek, Spicewood, and surrounding areas.

We also take on a limited number of projects outside the region each year, including South Texas, Colorado, and international locations such as Costa Rica. These are handled case by case based on scope and alignment.

Press & affiliations.

Founder-led, with a small team built around accountability.

Made with love in Austin.
