Every smart home we build follows the same five stages. Nothing skipped. Every decision documented.
Five stages, in order. Each one with its own scope, its own deliverables, and its own clear handoff.
Stage 01
Discovery
A 30-minute call to talk scope, timeline, and fit. At the end of it, either we confirm we're a fit and schedule a site visit, or we point you to someone better suited. Either way, you leave with a clearer read on your project.
What we ask of you: floor plans if you have them, your architect or builder's name if applicable, and an honest conversation about what you're trying to accomplish.
What you get: A clearer read on your project, and a yes/no on fit by the end of the call.
Stage 02
Design
An on-site walk, pre-drywall for new construction, with your GC and electrician. We produce a scope narrative, a device schedule, and drawings for your architect. One round of revisions included.
A design fee applies. This covers the development of a complete, buildable system. For clients who move forward, a portion may be credited toward the final project.
What you get: A fixed-price proposal, a scope narrative you can forward to anyone, and a wire/rough-in plan for your GC.
Stage 03
Install
Pre-wire coordinated with electrical. Post-drywall rough-in of racks, panels, and shade brackets. Finish: devices, switches, shades, displays. Commissioning: everything on one system, tested.
Regular progress updates throughout the project. Progress photos along the way. Any cost or scope change is agreed upon before changes are made.
What you get: One commissioned system, tested end to end, with documented changes signed off as we go.
Stage 04
Training & Handoff
A walk-through in the house. Your system manual documented and archived. All usernames, passwords, and accounts set up in your name, not ours. A punch-list window opens for anything that needs a second look.
What you get: You leave the walk-through knowing how to drive your own system. You have written documentation for the next owner if you ever sell. You have admin access to everything. If you fire us tomorrow, nothing locks.
Stage 05
Support
You join our service plan if you want ongoing care. Remote monitoring, firmware updates, priority scheduling, quarterly tune-ups. The same standard of care from install onward, handled by the SmartHauz team that built your system.
What you get: A system that gets better over time. No more “I don't know who installed this” in five years.
What we won't do.
- Operate with vague scope or surprise costs.
- Push systems you don't need.
- Lock you into something you can't take over.
- Disappear after the final invoice.
