Focused
A single part of the home, done properly.
For the room, suite, office, or media space you use every day.
We design it with the same discipline as a whole-home system: reliable Wi-Fi, clean controls, lighting, shades, audio, or video where they make sense.
The scope is smaller, but the standard is the same.
Whole Home
The entire property, designed as one system.
Our most common approach, and the one that benefits most from early coordination with your architect, builder, or designer.
Lighting, shades, networking, audio, video, climate, access, and security are considered together so the home feels coordinated instead of pieced together.
For most homes, this is where the technology stops feeling like a collection of devices and starts feeling like part of the home.
Estate
Multiple structures, built to operate together.
For multi-building properties, primary residences at the top of the market, or homes with specialized spaces like theaters, listening rooms, pool houses, or guest houses.
Everything in Whole Home, extended across the property: networking, access, gates, outdoor zones, audio, video, and coordinated security planning where licensed partners are required.
Systems are segmented where needed so family, guests, staff, or tenants can use the property independently while maintaining central visibility, reliability, and control.
What makes our systems different.
Not locked to a system.
Most smart homes are built around closed platforms that require a dealer for every change. We don’t build systems that way. You own your system, your accounts, and your data.
Built around what you already use.
We build around Apple Home because it’s familiar, reliable, and doesn’t need to be explained.
How projects are scoped.
Every project starts with a conversation. We scope systems based on the home and how you plan to use it, then provide a clear proposal with materials and labor broken out. No packages. No assumptions.
Service after install.
After the install, we stay involved. Every project includes 90 days of support to make sure everything works exactly as intended. Ongoing service is available month-to-month, quarterly, or annually. You’re never locked in.
Where we work.
Austin and the Hill Country are our base, including Austin, Westlake, West Lake Hills, Tarrytown, Hyde Park, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Rollingwood, Dripping Springs, Barton Creek, Lost Creek, Spicewood, and surrounding areas.
We also take on a limited number of projects outside the region each year, including South Texas, Colorado, and international locations such as Costa Rica. These are handled case by case based on scope and alignment.
How to start.
Every approach, whether Focused, Whole Home, or Estate, starts the same way: a 30-minute discovery call. We’ll talk through what you’re trying to do, where you are in the process, and whether SmartHauz is the right fit.
If it is, we book a site visit within a week. If it isn’t, we’ll say so and recommend someone better suited.
Frequently asked.
Do you work with existing systems, or only new installs?
Both. A meaningful share of our work is renovating systems someone else installed.
Do you install hardware I buy myself?
Sometimes. We don’t warranty work we didn’t specify, but we’ll look at what you have and give you an honest read on whether to keep it or start over.
Can I get just lighting, or just audio, or just the network?
Yes, within a Focused scope. We’ll still design the network around it. A weak network is the most common reason a luxury system “mysteriously stops working.”
What happens if I want to leave?
You keep everything: accounts, passwords, documentation, administrative access. Nothing locks.
